Hello Comment Spammers and Hackers

Worst Offending Countries: China; Russian Federation; & Ukraine

To you ‘comrades’ in China, the Russian Federation and Ukraine: You trying to insert comment spam and spidering my site are increasingly going to cause your countries IP addresses to be blocked.

Today’s launch of IPV6, arguably the biggest change in the internet since it was conceived, means that it will become increasingly difficult for those of us running websites and managing infrastructure to block you. With new tools appearing for spammers and hackers — ones that allow an array of IP addresses to be used so blocking a single one is useless — means that entire segments of IP addresses will be blocked.

I am now using tools that allow me to block individual IPs and segments (or ‘ranges’) of IP addresses. The next updates will give me the capability to block entire countries. Since I care most about those who use my websites and blogs and their bandwidth for positive purposes, you are wasting resources and destroying the reputation of your country.

So think about that as you run your little scripts and pull yourself away from World of Warcraft for a moment to sell “Viogra” (misspelling intentional).

Connecting the Dots Podcast

Podcasting hit the mainstream in July of 2005 when Apple added podcast show support within iTunes. I'd seen this coming so started podcasting in May of 2005 and kept going until August of 2007. Unfortunately was never 'discovered' by national broadcasters, but made a delightfully large number of connections with people all over the world because of these shows. Click here to view the archive of my podcast posts.
